Slovenia is establishing its own database of habitat types, their spreading and about flora and fauna of Europe on different levels. One of more important contributors to the database is Faculty for natural sciences and mathematics (FNM) of Maribor University. Their involvement also includes education of ecologists and environmentalists.

Basic motto of joint project of FNM and Cosylab d.d. is to geographically locate and to present the simplified data of biodiversity of habitat types and species. In that way the system is supposed to assist the visitors in presented areas, on other hand the web atlas would be used as an efficient support tool of education system on primary and secondary level.
The web atlas will be based on Geopedia.si technological platform, which offers many ways of presentation of habitat types, their characteristics, flora, fauna and self-guided trails.

At the beginning some areas of the Kras region, Slovenian Istria and Goričko region will be presented, but after a while all of Slovenia is supposed to be taken in to consideration of E-narava web atlas – that will be a big support to education process of biology (habitat types, flora and fauna) and also enables considerable possibilities to touristic organizations for their touristic offers.
