About the Role
We are looking for someone with programming experience who would like to build their career in the control system domain. If you join us, you will be working with a team of control systems engineers to deliver software for big physics projects.
Our team designs, develops, and implements systems that control the behavior of detectors by reading the image of the beam shape, motors by inserting devices to the beamline, electromagnets to bend and shape the beam and many similar cases.
Don’t worry, we understand our domain is specific that is why we provide support to gain this knowledge through day-to-day tasks.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Adding features and components to the particle accelerator control system.
- Participating in project definition through design to detailed completion.
- Writing technical documentation.
- Preparing test cases and executing commissioning procedures.
- Collaborating with other developers via code reviews and occasional pair programming.
- May mentor other developers.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Basic programming experience.
- Basic knowledge of networking.
- Action-oriented personality and problem-solving skills.
- Developed communication skills.
- Open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
Bonus points if you have:
- Programming experience in C, C++ or Python.
- Experience with SCADA systems (EPICS, WinCC OA or other).
- Knowledge of different communication protocols (TCP/IP, RS-232, SCPI, etc.).
- Experience with source control tools (Git, SVN).
Education
- BSc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
