Systems Architect – US (m/f)

About the role
Cosylab is building state of the art control systems and software for the world’s most complex, precise and advanced particle therapy systems for cancer treatment, pushing science to its limits and contributing to safe medical devices around the world.
We are expanding our team and are looking for a System Architect who will be involved in the development and maintenance of medical devices for radiation therapy. Within this role, you will develop a comprehensive understanding of radiation therapy and learn to transform market requirements into a final product. Even if you don’t have experience in system architecture, but have a solid track record in software architecture and are keen on broadening your field of work, this might be a position for you.
This position is preferably located in Naperville, Illinois but we are open for remote locations nationwide for the right candidate. This position will provide ample opportunity to work with a World-class team, learn advanced medical systems like particle therapy for Oncology applications and advance in technical career path.

Responsibilities
- Analysis and concretization of market and user requirements.
- Defining the architecture of medical systems based on requirements.
- Participating in medical risk management.
- Contributing to software and hardware design.
- Participating in system verification & validation.
- Work breakdown preparation, a delegation of tasks to other team members.
Required Skills and Experience
- Experience in system or software architecture.
- Familiarity with different software technologies.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or another related technical field.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Enjoy working in a team with other developers.
If you checked the above listed bullet-points, you will learn other relevant stuff as we go: hardware platforms, particle therapy, safety standards, working on medical projects.
Bonus points if you have
- Experience in C++ or other high-level programming language.
- Experience with FPGA development.
- Experience with embedded computing platforms.
- Familiar with standards relevant to medical device development (e.g. IEC 62304, IEC 62366-1, ISO 14971).
