Product Development Manager

Chicago, USA

About the role

We are looking for Product Development Manager to join our global technology team. This position for work performance is in Chicago, Illinois (employment in our branch company Cosylab USA with headquarters in Palo Alto, California).

You will be a part of bringing new and innovative radiation therapy products to the market.

In the first two years, your focus will be to lead and manage the transformation of our medical imaging prototype to a medically cleared and installed device at a clinic, ready for initial small series in-house final assembly. This will be followed by scaling up our teams and processes for bringing our next medical devices to the market quickly and with optimal resources.

Main responsibilities

  • Oversee product development in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Oversee and engage in a regulatory path for medical device clearance.
  • Oversee V&V, assembly, on-site installation, and commissioning of the first units.
  • Gather user requirements and organize user testing in the clinical and office environments.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with third-party companies, clinical users/key opinion leaders, and reference centers.
  • Strong involvement in defining the product strategy and roadmap.
  • Be responsible for the product’s success.

This is a multi-disciplinary role, teaming with physicists, software-, electronics- and mechanical engineers, and has continuous interaction with operators, medical physicists, and doctors at particle therapy centers.

Required experience and skills:

  • 2+ years in engineering management is required.
  • Experience in the medical device industry is required or clinical environment is a plus.
  • Ability to understand medical device development of complex technical solutions that combines hardware, electronics, and software.
  • Understanding clinical user needs (especially in the field of radiation therapy) and transforming those into product requirements.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills combined with being a team player.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
  • A proven track record of defining marketing strategy, target customers, pricing model, and product positioning is a plus.
