Senior Java Developer for Astronomy and Space Projects (m/f)

We’re looking for an experienced Java developer! Become a part of our team and help us develop control systems for major space science projects. You would also help us develop modern communication infrastructure for space and telescopes. Would that be something for you? Let’s meet!

You would join a team that contributes to the development of control systems software for the European Space Agency – ESA. You can see how we build the future with ESA together. In addition, you will be involved in the development of a modern infrastructure for communication in the field of space and telescopes for other partners, such as Airbus and others.

• Creating software architecture design, development, code reviews, and overall teamwork.
• Gathering requirements from the customer.
• Leading and mentoring junior developers.
• Documenting and thoroughly testing your work.

• 7+ years of experience as a software developer.
• 5+ years of experience as a Java developer.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and design, programming techniques, and computer science fundamentals.
• Experience in the full development lifecycle.
• Experienced in modern CI/CD workflows:
  • Automation with build agents and pipelines.
  • Static and dynamic code analysis.
  • Docker.
  • Virtualization.

• Developed communication skills and an open mind for discussion and team collaboration.

• Experience in front-end (JavaFX) and back-end development.
• JavaEE/Spring and full-stack development.
• Experience in concurrent and distributed systems.
• Linux / *nix user experience.

• Sc. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related technical disciplines.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
