User Support Engineer (m/f)

About the Role
We are looking for a person who will join our ITER support team whose main purpose is to provide professional user support to instrumentation and controls suppliers worldwide. Our new colleague will be working at ITER in the Provence region in France and become an important bridge between CODAC users and the Cosylab team.
The role consists of three main parts;
- Provide technical user support to users (monitoring the e-mail inbox, delegating requests to other team members, helping with technical questions,…);
- Help with new releases (testing, updating test plans in coordination with the responsible officers (a person responsible for one part of the CODAC system (for example, GUI).
- Provide users’ trainings (organize the training, prepare materials, test, execute the training).
P.S. Don’t worry; we will teach you all about the CODAC (Control, Data Access, and Communication) system for ITER, the biggest scientific project on earth.
Key tasks and Responsibilities
- Getting familiar with the ITER project and with the control system technologies.
- Providing support and assistance to ITER suppliers.
- Daily communication with CODAC users, ITER personnel, and the Cosylab team.
- Delivering training courses.
- Willingness to work at our customer’s premises (in the Provence region in France).
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Familiarity with working in the Linux environment (RedHat) and Bash scripting.
- Good organisational skills.
- Inventive when looking for solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communicational skills.
- An open mind for discussion and team collaboration.
Education
- Sc. in Physics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
- Fluency in English (speaking and writing).
Bonus points if you have
- Experience with programming (C/C++, Java, or Python).
- Experience with PLCs (Siemens S7 preferred).
- Experience with writing user documentation, test procedures, and QA.
- Comfortable making presentations in English in front of an audience.
