First FIRST workshop successfully finished!

Last week Kevin Meyer from Cosylab hosted a workshop that brought together delegates from fusion experiments in Europe and the USA.
20 delegates attended the Future Improvements in Real-Time Systems (FIRST-2019) from and 6 fusion experiments, 2 research organisations and 1 industrial partner.

The FIRST workshops bring together control system engineers and developers in a comfortable environment where they can share information about their experiences, providing opportunities for collaboration and learning.

While the focus of the workshop was on real-time frameworks for controlling fusion experiments, there were also sessions on experiment definition, experiment control and real-time system optimisation. We are looking forward to the next event with an eye on presenting some collaboration proposals to address some of the common issues faced by the fusion community. Thank you for all the participants joining us from
ITER Organization, Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, Fusion for Energy, Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), CEA Cadarache, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II and Jozef Stefan Institute.
